MANHATTAN × ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT-PRESS

2026.01.30 / WUNDWEKAMMER

When you think of Manhattan in Kyushu, you think of donuts, specifically Ryo-Yu-Pan's MANHATTAN. This is a sweet bread that has been continuously made by Ryo-Yu-Pan, Kyushu's largest bakery manufacturer, since its release in 1974. It has been loved for many years as a soul food of Kyushu. Yuki Matsuo, the editor-in-chief of All-You-Can-Eat Press, known for the New York donut map and originally from Kyushu, has been actively promoting it as an unofficial MANHATTAN ambassador, hoping to get as many people as possible to try it. Perhaps her passion and voice were heard, as they produced official merchandise to commemorate the 50th anniversary.

Please take a look at the story behind the creation of these items as told by Yuki Matsuo.

"My first MANHATTAN was Ryo-Yu-Pan's MANHATTAN. Long before I knew it was the name of an island in New York, I enjoyed eating the crunchy donut covered in chocolate. Little did I know I would later live in New York and create a donut map...

~ Home is something far away that I think of ~
I grew to love MANHATTAN more after I left Kyushu at 18. Until then, I could easily find and eat MANHATTAN whenever I went to the supermarket, but I discovered that it wasn't available in Tokyo, making MANHATTAN suddenly feel distant. Since then, I have been bringing it back home every time I visit. Once I started living in New York, MANHATTAN became something both close and far away.

Two years ago, I moved my base to Fukuoka and now live very close to MANHATTAN.
While eating MANHATTAN, I find myself thinking of the faraway Manhattan...

I created a plate for MANHATTAN.
"TASTE OF HOME"
I printed the meaning of local flavor and hometown flavor on the rim.
For those who can enjoy MANHATTAN and for those who cannot,
may MANHATTAN always be by your side."

"When you think of MANHATTAN, you think of coffee. (Some might say milk, tea, whiskey, or ice cream!)
So, we created the MANHATTAN BEST FRIEND MUG.

With a thickness of about 6mm, a hefty weight of 414g, and a generous capacity of 300ml.
On the front, we printed the MANHATTAN logo, and on the back, we printed "TASTE OF HOME" in large letters.

I love collecting mugs, and I've noticed that when I compare them, heavier mugs seem to extend my coffee drinking time. When the weight of the mug combines with the weight of the drink, it settles comfortably in my wrist, providing stability. Even as I drink, it doesn't feel like the coffee is diminishing. The feeling of having plenty left allows me to enjoy a slow coffee time. Definitely a partner for MANHATTAN TIME!"

"We created a bandana for the MANHATTAN FAN CLUB. Inspired by the package design, we printed the voices of us fans on all four sides. One of the statues of liberty holding a torch in the corners is holding something "special"!

TASTE OF HOME ~ Local Flavor ~
TASTE OF KYUSHU ~ Kyushu Flavor ~
TASTE OF YOUTH ~ Flavor of Youth ~
TASTE OF NOSTALGIA ~ Nostalgic Flavor ~

The size is 52cm × 52cm, perfect for wrapping your MANHATTAN lunch or any lunch, or using as a handkerchief. Wrap a mini MANHATTAN in a box for a great Kyushu souvenir!"
