Yuki Matsuo has displayed a tree decorated with vintage Christmas ornaments collected over 20 years in America, along with traditional handcrafted garlands made of popcorn and cranberries.
Among the ornaments, there are many precious pieces made by local artisans for American export during the 7 years from 1945 to 1952, under the occupation known as "Occupied Japan". At that time, Christmas customs had not yet permeated Japan, and these decorations were created by the artisans' meticulous and exceptional craftsmanship, without knowing they were derived from Christianity. These ornaments, which had never circulated in Japan, have triumphantly returned home after 70 years. Please take a look.
