A traditional machine that knits slowly like a hanging knitting machine, and a modern sinker that has many needles, produces speed, and creates a dense fabric.
The "Azuma Knitting Machine" is right in between.
It's not as slow as hanging knitting, nor does it apply as strong a tension as a sinker. The balance makes it an interesting machine.
When we visited the factory where we have our T-shirts knitted, this Azuma knitting machine was hardly in operation. They said, "It's not in use right now," so I asked, "Can we make something with it?" and the development of sweat fabric began.
It has better productivity than hanging knitting, making it just right for a staple item.
While maintaining a dense fabric, the texture is soft and simple.
It has a comfortable feeling that is neither hanging knitting nor the latest machine, but just in the middle.
The silhouette uses the same shape as our standard sweatshirts.
The "intermediate texture" that I felt while handling Compact Terry and LOOPWHEELER was just perfect. LOOPWHEELER has fewer needles and knits slowly, creating a soft texture.
On the other hand, sinkers create a tightly packed fabric that feels sturdy like woven fabric. The Azuma knitting machine is in between, and there are actually not many of them. The factory staff were happy to say, "It's been a while since we used it."
I think there are hardly any places making fabric with this machine right now. That's why we want to continue using this material as a staple.
