Announcement of the release of the Uni-ssentials by TDS Fall / Winter 2024 Capsule Collection
"Uni-ssentials by TDS" is an apparel collection that merges performance and lifestyle, announced by TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance (TDS) in 2023. It offers fits and styles tailored to the individuality of the wearer, regardless of age or gender, proposing a new comfort for everyone while continuously updating the products. The latest FW24 capsule collection pursues the theme of "warmth" and "warm-up," focusing on the sensation of temperature.
Additionally, items featuring works by Hong Kong-based photographer Wing Shya will be available in stores and online starting September 27 (Friday).
In "Uni-ssentials by TDS," TDS proposes to create clothing for humans. It is a new collection that experimentally explores the essence of gender neutrality. Designed to fit the natural diversity of gender, it allows the wearer to have agency in their choices, becoming a style in itself. The apparel lineup does not distinguish between men's and women's clothing, significantly rethinking traditional pattern making to offer a single standard size range. Balancing comfort and functionality, which New Balance has established as an athletic brand, it is designed to fit an urban lifestyle that demands both sophistication and comfort, from private wear to durable exercise activities. Repeated fitting tests with models of various body types, nationalities, and genders have been conducted to pursue the optimal size balance. The traditional uniform size grading has been abolished, and individual size pitches have been set so that each item can be worn at the optimal length and width for each size. It caters to a more diverse body balance that falls between existing sizes. The yellow color details are inspired by the colors of the Procare Program implemented in the United States in the 1990s, a certification mark from medical institutions and selected footwear dealers, expressing the top priorities of "fit" and "quality" in apparel production, inherited from New Balance footwear manufacturing.
