Solotex Twill Series｜Graphpaper
A decade that started with uniforms.
When the Graphpaper Aoyama store opened, the first thing created was the uniform. All staff wore the same clothes. That was the beginning of this series.
"It started from the fact that it became everyone's uniform at Graphpaper Aoyama. It's a coat, so it's good for autumn and winter, but it gets quite hot in spring and summer, so we started thinking about making a uniform."
Born as a spring/summer uniform were the shirt and chef pants. The combination made from the same fabric for both pieces continues to be a signature of Graphpaper to this day.
At one point, the fabric was changed. The reason was simple.
"This is a thread called Solotex, which is a filament, a type of synthetic fiber, but usually, it tends to shimmer or shine. However, Solotex threads do not shine; they have a matte texture, which is a significant feature. I personally don't like things that shimmer too much."
While being a synthetic fiber, it does not shine. That was the deciding factor. At the same time, functionality was also sought.
"There are times when I intentionally choose that, but regarding this, I really don't want it to shine, but I wanted things like stretchability and functionality, so I switched to this. Since it's Solotex, it has this matte texture and is functional clothing."
Regarding how to wear it, Mr. Minami says:
"Rather than wearing it as a regular shirt, it's made to be like a shirt jacket, similar to a coverall, so I think it can be used easily with various layers over it."
Rather than wearing it as a shirt, it serves as an outer layer. Born as a uniform, it has taken ten years to become this kind of clothing.
