The "991" debuted in 2001 as the eighth installment of the 900 series, featuring visible ABZORB in the forefoot and heel. This 20th Anniversary model is embroidered with "20th Anniversary" on the tongue label and has "2001" on the heel, manufactured in a factory in Flimby, Cumbria, England. The high-quality nubuck / mesh upper envelops a robust design, while the high-performance sole unit provides a comfortable fit. This model was created based on the design concept of "updating basic gray," where New Balance has updated the suede gray used as a basic gray to nubuck.
