Announcement of the Release of the TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance Garment Dye Apparel & Running Cap Capsule Collection

At Dice and Dice, we will release a capsule collection of 3 types of apparel and 1 type of cap from TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance (TDS) on September 10, 2021 (Friday) at the "& Dice & Dice supported by TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance" store and online store.
Inspired by New Balance's established footwear craftsmanship, TDS's apparel features a collection of garment-dyed, heavy-weight, dry cut-and-sew items that balance classic style with the comfort of functional materials. We propose 2 types of tops and 1 type of pants in patterns and silhouettes that can be worn in a gender-neutral way. The cap, debuting for TDS, is designed with specifications suitable for sports scenes and can be compactly folded to fit in your pocket. These items, which are perfect as one-mile wear or for running and training, feature graphics embroidered by young art director Riku Hoshika, who is active in various fields.

The TDS standard cut-and-sew material, blended with functional yarn, is resistant to shape distortion even after repeated washing and excels in moisture absorption and quick-drying properties. Additionally, each piece is carefully product-dyed and bio-processed by hand, allowing for a soft texture despite its heavy weight. This time, we have adopted an original graphic by art director Riku Hoshika, themed around "Jamming (1. Radio Interference, 2. Improvisation)," featuring original typography focused on readability and cryptography. The oversized fit has a wide body and a slightly shorter length silhouette. Thanks to a unique pattern that does not slope the shoulders, it can be worn regardless of gender or body type. Furthermore, details like the hem and pocket openings feature cut-off details that enhance lightness.

Riku Hoshika
Born in 1997, from Kyoto Prefecture. After graduating from Kyoto City Copperplate Art High School, he entered Musashino Art University. He dropped out of the university last year. He presents works that cross various fields based on graphic design. He has worked on visual posters for films and art events, as well as tabloids and flyers for artist exhibitions, and book design.
WORKSHOPTM
From Tokyo. After graduating from Kuwasawa Design School, he worked in planning and design for an apparel brand before becoming independent, starting to produce fixtures for his own exhibitions. In 2017, he began producing fixtures and spatial compositions in collaboration with labels and creators. He started activities under the name WORKSHOPTM in 2019, creating and exhibiting art that incorporates industrial and structural approaches.
