TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO From the popular TDS574 series of New Balance, we will release the latest colorway inspired by the iconic New Balance model "2040" on February 3, 2023 (Friday) at Dice and Dice storefront and online store.
The latest model "TDS 574" is a reinterpretation of New Balance's most popular icon model "574". While cherishing the classic design codes of New Balance footwear, it adds a modern reinterpretation, combining high design quality with a comfortable wearing experience thanks to the latest technology. This fifth installment features a color scheme inspired by New Balance's masterpiece "2040" and an upper made of premium nubuck × mesh, characterized by the TDS original shark sole developed in collaboration with Vibram. It is a new, authentically modern footwear that allows you to discover the joy of new and free styling, unrestricted by categories like sneakers or dress shoes.

TDS 574
The upper retains the classic design codes of New Balance 574, based on the structure of the tip (toe), saddle (vamp), and foxing (heel), while adopting the design detail of the edge used in dress shoes for the double edge (the entire perimeter of the shoe including the heel). Furthermore, the side N logo has been boldly removed, resulting in a neutral and modern look that freely transcends the norms of New Balance footwear. The sole features a newly developed shark sole co-created with Vibram for this model. Not only does it have a bold and modern appearance, but it also provides excellent slip resistance and cushioning, ensuring comfort for all urban dwellers in all conditions.
*Vibram shark sole
The shark sole, characterized by its shape resembling shark teeth, was originally worn in America in the 1950s and featured deep grooves designed for practicality on wet surfaces and rocky terrain. By the 1970s, its striking design gained attention in the UK and began to be adopted across Europe. In this TDS 574, we have developed and adopted an original design shark sole using the latest technology through our collaboration with Vibram.

Launched in 1988, the "576" is one of New Balance's representative models. With a deep tread outsole that enhances performance on uneven terrain, it was a historical model that showcased the potential for running in settings other than tracks. The "574," born from the motif of the "576," has built an unwavering popularity worldwide and is an iconic model that boasts the highest number of wearers in New Balance's history.
