Washi Grass-Dyed Fan Walnut/Olive
This product will be released starting from June 17, 2022 (Saturday) at the Y. & SONS BESPOKE ORDER FAIR at Dice & Dice.
Founded in 1899 (Meiji 32), Sugiyama Emido specializes in uchiwa, sensu, daily calendars, and pull cards, and we commissioned them to create this fan.
This fan is a carefully crafted piece dyed with plant-based dyes, folding and gathering each sheet of kozo handmade washi to match the design. The logo symbolizing Dice & Dice is embossed in silver, and the handmade washi is dyed with walnut and olive, expressing a gradient through iron mordanting.
The washi used is the finest quality, extremely thin washi made for fans, created by Masashi Sawamura, a member of the preservation society for the nationally designated Important Intangible Cultural Asset "Hon Mino Paper." Additionally, the fan ribs are made from high-quality materials sourced from Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture.
The colors of the wild mountains and garden plants are rich in hues found in leaves, bark, and fruits. These colors are harvested during their maturation period and boiled for dyeing. The charm also lies in the fact that different colors can emerge from a single plant through mordanting (fixing and developing pigments).
Enjoy the softness and warmth of washi, along with the natural colors and pleasant breeze derived from plants.
Feel free to pair it with kimono or yukata, or incorporate it into your everyday life.

Due to last year's popularity, we will again hold a bespoke order event by Y. & SONS at the select shop "Dice & Dice" in Fukuoka this year.
During the event, you can actually see and touch new original fabric yukata and haori, as well as collaboration items from AURALEE, Graphpaper, and Snowpeak.
In addition to the Dice & Dice exclusive fan, we have a rich lineup of accessories including tenugui, uchiwa, and geta.
*After purchase, Y. & SONS staff will take measurements on-site, and items will be delivered at the end of July. (There are also items available for immediate sale).
