In the early days, we were producing domestically and using materials like wool fabric, which was quite challenging. When I encountered PERTEX, I found that the so-called Gore-Tex and similar layered fabrics are very stiff, which I don't particularly like. However, PERTEX® has a high level of water repellency while maintaining a soft surface feel, so we decided to switch to PERTEX® and began producing overseas at that time.

The reason is that down and sportswear are now quite well-made in China, so we switched to that. This change has reduced costs and improved quality, allowing us to align with our intended designs. Since PERTEX® is an overseas material, it has made it much easier to work with, and I think this is how we successfully reduced costs.

The shape itself had to change due to the timing of the fabric change, so we couldn't just carry over the previous patterns. I thought about starting over a bit, reflecting on what I usually struggle with when buying down jackets. For example, I typically have two types: one that has the classic down stitching and looks casual, and another that is sleek and doesn't have much of a down profile. I often find myself wondering which one to wear, but I thought it would be great to combine both into one piece. The idea of reversibility isn't just about changing colors; it's about being able to switch styles based on the occasion or design. That's how this down jacket came to be.
When I want to wear something casual versus when I want to look sleek, that one down jacket is the most prominent item, as it is not an inner layer. It showcases the outer design the most, so for this new down jacket, we aimed to achieve both styles.
