Well, to put it simply, I feel a strong opposition (to starting a brand).
There was a strong opposition, and even after I started, the reaction was like, "What are you doing?"
I think it's only natural, of course.
The only one who supported me might have been my mother.
It felt like I had to create my own future.
Everyone else was against it (the opposition). That's to be expected.
First of all, what is a brand? That's the question.
Without any know-how, how can you start it? Starting it might be fine, but how do you get it on track? It costs money too. There was an overall atmosphere of, "You should just continue as you have been." It felt like a kind of public shaming.
I started with about five items, mainly simple sweaters that became the signature, focusing on mid-gauge and low-gauge sweaters, and of course, I wasn't receiving any orders at all, just gradually little by little.
