What is baby alpaca?
Baby alpaca is made from the first cut of alpaca fiber from alpacas under one year old, which is among the top three qualities in the alpaca market. Micron count (0.001 mm): 22-23 microns. The fibers are slightly thicker than royal alpaca, which enhances durability, making it suitable for casual items. Alpacas raised in natural environments possess many functions in their fibers to survive harsh conditions. They have self-cleaning properties and can reduce body odor when exposed to air. Additionally, the hollow structure of the fibers allows for temperature regulation to adapt to external temperature changes. Compared to sheep wool and other animal hairs, the scales (the outer layer of the hair) are finer and less abundant, which reduces the likelihood of pilling.
