YAECA - Mosquito Coil Stand
In Edo, during summer, they would create smoke by burning mugwort leaves, cedar, and pine needles, known as "kayari-bi" to ward off mosquitoes.
Originally, the fire was lit to drive away mosquitoes, but the people of Edo enjoyed the fragrance of the smoke, sensing the arrival of summer and celebrating the beginning of the season.
In modern times, to simply enjoy this summer tradition at home, we collaborated with the Yamagata foundry to create this cast iron mosquito coil stand.
