THE INOUE BROTHERS... - Julien Colombier Pistachio Hana-bi
We use a unique blend of organic cotton and organic hemp fabric to ensure comfort even during the hot summer months. All materials used in this project are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or defoliants.
All products are sewn in Tohoku.
Julien Colombier "Pistachio Hana-Bi"
I wanted to create a fresh and very dynamic painting. The flowers in the front have a lightness that makes them seem to sway in the wind. The small "Sticks" in the background have a movement that can feel like they are moving up and down depending on the viewer.
By adding this pistachio color, the painting appears to express "happy emotions."
Julien Colombier
Born in 1972. Known for painting on black canvases using pastels, chalk, and acrylics. He repetitively depicts geometric motifs and plants, compressing them intricately, resulting in a work that is both figurative and graphically abstract. He was selected by Karl Lagerfeld for a collaboration with CHANEL and presented his work in 2011. Since then, he has collaborated with various brands such as Baccarat, Cartier, and Diptyque. He actively collaborates with fields outside of art as well.
Background of Production in Tohoku
- Tohoku is known for its excellent quality across a wide range of manufacturing sectors, from electronics to handicrafts. Production activities for various products are always active in Tohoku, providing goods necessary for modern life to the Japanese and global markets. Many people in this region made a living through industry and fisheries, but on March 11, 2011, when a devastating tsunami struck the coast due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, everything was destroyed in an instant.
Japan's traditional textile industry is supported by partnerships between cooperatives of small and medium-sized enterprises and major apparel companies, allowing production to be adjusted according to market demand. Depending on order volumes, small workshops and large factories have come together to produce the highest quality clothing in the world, but many manufacturing bases were damaged by the earthquake, and most orders were immediately canceled.
Two months after the Great East Japan Earthquake, we launched a simple T-shirt collection with small factories that were operational but had lost most of their orders. Since the announcement of the first collection, we aim to contribute to the recovery of the Tohoku region by patiently supporting the increase in orders to allow them to stand on their own again as before.
