Aloha Blossom - BIRDS
This special edition is an exclusive collaboration for Dice & Dice, jointly created by Aloha Blossom, an Aloha shirt brand rooted in Okinawa, and Takarajima Senko, a dyeing studio based in Fukuoka. Crafted from premium rayon fabric, each piece is individually hand-dyed using natural dyes, offering a unique and artisanal finish. The process brings out the natural texture of the base fabric, enhancing it with organic irregularities and a rich depth of color. The “BIRDS” model draws inspiration from traditional Indian block printing. A classic houndstooth motif is hand-printed using a pigment paste made from sumi ink and catechu. In the spaces between the print, plant-based dye extracted from myrobalan is applied randomly using a unique wrapping tool resembling a mochi ball. By layering different dyes and techniques, the design seeks to reimagine classical patterns through a contemporary lens. Once dried, the piece undergoes iron mordanting to fix the coloration, followed by washing and sun-drying to complete the process. With its updated scale and composition, this shirt strikes a balance between traditional elegance and modern freshness.
